How can I develop communication skills and How can I become an entrepreneur? Upcoming workshop online and onsite by Nudrat Fatima
Speech communication
As you know that lot of students will have concerns about improving their communication skills.
If someone is in hospitality industry where communication becomes very very important because he needs to solve guest issues, he can have so many issues which can be solved just by good communication, by proactive communication. But students from any other field or some of students might want to become politicians tomorrow so that skill is very important skill infact many studies have shown that all other things being equal an individual communication skills and their leadership skills which are co-related can distinguish and can mark the journey of one's life achievement.
1st myth that I want to clear is "Good communication doesn't mean knowing the English language".
Many people have misconception that I've learnt English, I've also learnt to communicate.
English is a language and communication is a skill, two very different things. Even after learning good English your communication can be pathetic. When required you won't be able to speak up. And even if you don't know any language just imagine, one born is in a jungle and doesn't know any language, he only knows a body language or let there be two persons in a jungle person A's body language will be different from person B's.
Try it now, if you want to ask for a pen from someone without using words Go ahead!
If two persons are there and asking for a pen from someone their body language will be different from each other. And this can be misinterpreted. But is there any variation between the two or not that's what I am trying to explain Learning, poor communication can be misinterpreted. Coming back to that point again that communication is an art that can be learnt that can be developed. English is a language that can be learnt. Now the problem is a mistake which most people make, they learn words from dictionary and they try to insert it wherever it is possible and especially when they try to impress others then they search for immensely strange and critical words and use them in their sayings for demotivating others. Other person will also be impressed by his communication that oh wow! his English is very profound. This is a misconception. You first need to develop an art! Rather I suggest to learn the art of communication in your mother tongue.
Making eye contact, body language, voice tonality, being proactive these sort of things.
To learn these English is not required. And side by side if you want to improve your English, keep a journal, keep a small notebook in which you'll put down all difficult words.
Train your brain on multiple fronts.
Increase your reading. Are you reading at the moment? Are you writing at the moment? Do you write on a daily basis? Not in the class, not notes, do you write something? If you are not reading, if you're not writing. Are you watching something? Are you watching any other good communicators on YouTube or somewhere else, Are you? Are you listening to audios?
So brain has so many ways to receive information, use all of them.
Communication is an art, just like a muscle it can be developed. A famous quote of someone which says communication works for those who work at it. If you'll work on it, you'll get better. If you'll work at improving your art of converting your ideas, do hardwork, you'll succeed.
Iam going to introduce you a law which not only in communication but in every field this law is applicable, it's called the law of paying the price which simply stated means is: If you want something you must pay the price. Nothing is free. If you want to wear branded suit, If you want to go to a nice holiday, if you want to buy a nice camera or the things whatever, the higher the quality, the hire the price, you need to pay.
But in life's improvement Iam not talking about the money, few people think they'll achieve everything with money.
It doesn't matter how rich and influential your father is, you cannot pay someone else to improve communication skills for you, you need to do it by your own. So learn to do your own work. Which means to develop the communication, efforts had to be put in. Without efforts, there is no key, no guide, no shortcut through which you can achieve it. It will take efforts, it will take time, it will take hard work.
But here's what you need, you need good role models. Like whom do you wish to learn to communicate?
Listen to reporters, journalists, people who are good politicians, people who are good in the art of communication means you see how the person is influencing the crowd. Learn the art that how the person is influencing the crowd? and how I can use it? This comes first! Words come later. There's a study which says that words are only 7% of the entire communication from one person to another. Body language is huge, visual is huge, auditory is huge, your body posture, your tone of your sound and so many things, they’re all combining together so if you determine in your heart, that I need to improve this art because this will be very beneficial in future then you can definitely reach that goal where you'll improve your skills. You just need to remove that mental block that someone is born with a good luck that's why he's successful. You must realize that he worked on his skills on which you also have to work slightly. Nobody is born a good communicator. Sometimes you are not that much confident to ask a question from a teacher if she ask students if anything is not cleared. But still be stubborn and raise your hands to ask a question because this act can make you more confident. Try to communicate to senior authorities even if you don't know what to ask. Someday you'll get better in your skills. Talk to more people who are in position of authority. The more you do it the more comfortable you'll get. Make yourself uncomfortable you'll emerge victorious.
It's truly said that Allah hasn't changed the circumstances of that person who is not concerned to change his own circumstances.
Today if you determine on how to change your circumstances in terms of improving your communication skills, then work on yourself atleast for six months then see where the results are.
Topic No 2:
How can I become an Entrepreneur
Many of us want to become entrepreneurs.
Starting your own business is one of the
biggest dreams of our times. But how do you get to be an entrepreneur?
Most of the advice focuses on the
practicalities: writing a business plan, raising money, finding staff, marketing and PR.
We'll go down a different route. In our eyes at the heart of successful entrepreneurship lies something oddly more abstract: an accurate insight into the causes of human unhappiness.
To be an entrepreneur means, essentially, to
become an expert in the things that make life
difficult for people. That's because every properly ambitious business is in some way trying to fix things for other people. And the bigger and more original what you're trying to fix happens to be, the more successful your business can be.
Because consumer society is now well developed, it may be easy to think that all the big
problems out there already have thousands
of fixes anyway. Think of all those car companies, or pizza outlets, or news websites.
We surely have enough of everything. What could we possibly add to what's already out there? But to get a sense of the vast opportunities that still remain in capitalism all you need to do is ask yourself where and in what areas you're unhappy in the course of an average day?
Every unhappiness is really a new business
waiting to be born.Your frustrations are a nearly inexhaustible source of raw materials out of which the businesses of the future can be built.
So while there may already be plenty of
breakfast cereals, and t-shirts, and cell phones, and cab rides for sale, there's so much more that frustrates and depresses us, think of how difficult it is to get on with one's partner, educate children, cope with anxiety, discover what you want to do with your life, find a nice place to live, calm down in the evening. One could go on and on. Our griefs and irritations are endless,
thankfully for the budding entrepreneurs.
The biggest first step to take towards
entrepreneurship is therefore to learn to study your own unhappiness and what might possibly heal it for you and others. When profits decline in businesses it's really the result of too many people throwing themselves at trying to fix the same area 'cause they can't think of anything more innovative to do rather than start a
new airline, mobile phone company, or
Supermarket chain. And by contrast, healthy profits are a reward for understanding and mastering an area of human distress ahead of anyone else. Of course ideas aren't enough on their own; you need to take care of practicalities and money but they won't help you if your original psychological insight into her
unhappiness isn't sound. And by the same token, if your insight into what makes people unhappy is razor sharp, and your solutions bold,
then however difficult the journey, your business will stand a high chance of making money and benefiting humanity too.
